Therapy for Musicians
& Creatives in Surrey

Online Counselling for Creativity, Identity,
Anxiety & Emotional Wellbeing

Creative life can be deeply fulfilling, but it can also bring unique emotional pressures. Musicians, artists and creative individuals often experience high levels of self-doubt, comparison, anxiety, uncertainty and emotional intensity while trying to balance creativity with everyday life.

I offer online therapy for musicians and creatives across Surrey, providing a supportive and non-judgemental space to explore the emotional challenges that can come with creative work, identity and self-expression.

Whether you are struggling with anxiety, burnout, confidence, direction or feeling emotionally overwhelmed, therapy can help you better understand yourself and navigate these experiences more openly.

The Emotional Pressures of Creative Life

Creative people often place significant pressure on themselves. Creativity can become closely tied to identity, self-worth and validation, making setbacks, criticism or uncertainty feel deeply personal.

Many musicians and creatives experience:

  • Anxiety and overthinking

  • Self-doubt and imposter syndrome

  • Burnout and emotional exhaustion

  • Creative blocks

  • Low confidence and self-esteem

  • Perfectionism

  • Identity struggles

  • Comparison and social pressure

  • Stress and overwhelm

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Feeling emotionally “stuck”

  • Difficulty balancing creativity with work or life demands

Therapy provides a confidential space to step away from external pressures and explore how you are feeling without judgement.

Therapy for Musicians

Music can be a powerful source of identity, connection and emotional expression, but it can also come with significant pressure. Performance anxiety, uncertainty, rejection, comparison and the emotional ups and downs of creative life can all impact mental wellbeing.

As someone with a lifelong passion for music, live performance and creativity, I understand how closely emotional wellbeing and creative identity can become connected.

Therapy offers space to:

  • Explore performance anxiety

  • Manage stress and overwhelm

  • Build confidence

  • Navigate uncertainty and self-doubt

  • Better understand emotional patterns

  • Develop healthier coping strategies

  • Reconnect with yourself outside of external expectations

You do not need to work professionally in music to benefit from therapy. Many people simply identify strongly with creativity and artistic expression as part of who they are.

Supporting Creative Individuals

Creative people often experience emotions intensely and may struggle with periods of uncertainty, overthinking or feeling misunderstood.

I work with creatives from a range of backgrounds who may be navigating:

  • Career uncertainty

  • Freelance instability

  • Pressure to succeed

  • Identity and purpose

  • Emotional burnout

  • Social anxiety

  • Motivation difficulties

  • Balancing creativity alongside everyday responsibilities

Therapy can provide a space to slow down, reflect and better understand the emotional experiences behind these challenges.

My Approach to Counselling

I work integratively, meaning therapy is adapted to you as an individual rather than following a rigid structure.

My work draws from:

  • Person-centred therapy

  • CBT

  • Humanistic approaches

  • Psychodynamic therapy

  • Relational therapy

Some people benefit from practical strategies and coping tools, while others need a more reflective and exploratory space to process emotions and experiences more deeply.

Therapy is collaborative and moves at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

What Happens in the First Session?

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and explore what may be bringing you to therapy.

There is no pressure to share everything immediately, and sessions move entirely at your pace.

We may discuss:

  • Current emotional difficulties

  • Creative pressures and stressors

  • Relationships and support systems

  • Anxiety, confidence or burnout

  • Goals for therapy

  • How counselling may help

By the end of the session, we should both have a clearer understanding of whether the counselling relationship feels like the right fit moving forward.
