Counselling for Teenagers, Students & Young Adults in Surrey

Online Therapy for Anxiety, Confidence,
School Pressure & Life Transitions

Being a teenager or young adult can feel overwhelming at times. You may be dealing with anxiety, stress, friendship difficulties, low confidence or pressure about the future, while also trying to manage school, university, relationships and expectations from others.

I offer online counselling for teenagers and young adults across Surrey, providing a supportive and non-judgemental space to talk openly about whatever you may be struggling with.

Whether you are feeling anxious, lost, emotionally overwhelmed or simply unsure of yourself, therapy can help you better understand what you are experiencing and develop healthier ways of coping.

Support Through School, Sixth Form
& University

Young people today face enormous pressure academically, socially and emotionally. Social media, comparison, uncertainty about the future and increasing expectations can leave many teenagers and young adults feeling exhausted or disconnected from themselves.

I support young people experiencing difficulties including:

  • School stress and exam pressure

  • GCSE and A-Level anxiety

  • Starting sixth form or college

  • Leaving school and uncertainty about the future

  • Starting university

  • Homesickness and university anxiety

  • Friendship groups and social anxiety

  • Confidence and self-esteem

Therapy offers a space where you can speak honestly without fear of judgement or pressure.

  • Identity and self-worth

  • ADHD and neurodiversity

  • Overthinking and anxiety

  • Family pressures

  • Motivation and burnout

  • Low mood and depression

  • Feeling overwhelmed or emotionally stuck

A Counsellor with Experience Supporting Young People

Alongside private practice, I work within education and mental health settings and have extensive experience supporting young people from a wide range of backgrounds.

I am:

  • A qualified BACP therapist

  • A university lecturer in Psychology

  • A qualified Educational Mental Health Practitioner

  • A qualified secondary school teacher

  • Currently completing doctoral training in counselling psychology

This background gives me a strong understanding of the pressures young people face both inside and outside education.

I understand that adolescence and early adulthood can be periods of significant change, uncertainty and emotional intensity. Therapy provides a safe and supportive environment to explore these experiences at your own pace.

Therapy That Adapts to You

Every young person is different, which is why I use an integrative approach to counselling. Sessions are shaped around your individual needs, personality and goals rather than following a rigid structure.

My work draws from:

  • Person-centred therapy

  • CBT

  • Humanistic approaches

  • Psychodynamic therapy

  • Relational approaches

Some young people benefit from practical strategies for managing anxiety and stress, while others need a reflective space to better understand themselves emotionally.

There is no “right” way to do therapy, sessions are collaborative and move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Helping Young Adults Navigate “What’s Next?”

Many young adults struggle during periods of transition. Leaving school, starting university, beginning careers or comparing yourself to others can create pressure, uncertainty and anxiety.

It is common to feel:

  • Behind in life

  • Unsure what direction to take

  • Lost or disconnected

  • Worried about the future

  • Pressured to have everything figured out

Therapy can help you develop greater self-understanding, confidence and emotional resilience during these periods of change.

Starting university or navigating student life can bring a mixture of excitement and pressure. Many students struggle with loneliness, anxiety, academic stress, identity changes or uncertainty about the future.

Some young adults feel pressure to constantly succeed, while others feel lost, unmotivated or overwhelmed by comparison to others.

Therapy can help you:

  • Manage anxiety and stress

  • Build confidence and self-esteem

  • Navigate relationships and friendships

  • Cope with academic pressure

  • Better understand yourself emotionally

  • Develop healthier coping strategies

  • Feel more grounded during periods of change

You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from counselling. Many people come to therapy simply because they want support making sense of how they feel.

What Happens in the First Session?

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and explore what may be bringing you to counselling.

You do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. Many young people come to counselling simply knowing that something does not feel right or that they are struggling more than usual.

The first session gives us space to talk about:

  • What has been difficult recently

  • Your goals for therapy

  • Current stresses or worries

  • Relationships and support systems

  • How therapy may be able to help

There is no pressure to open up immediately, and sessions move at your pace.

Take the First Step
